For the past 10 years Alex Vega has been deeply committed to helping families achieve the dream of homeownership as Director of Lending Services for local non-profit VCCDC. Through his work and expertise in the mortgage industry, Alex has played an invaluable role in helping VCCDC reach its mission of strengthening the community by empowering low-to-moderate income families through homeownership and financial education.
Alex’s focus is on addressing the growing homeownership affordability gap facing very low, low, and moderate-income families living in Ventura County & Santa Barbara County by providing them with access to amortized and deferred subordinate loans made possible through affordable housing advocacy and capital raised from financial institutions, intermediaries, foundations, municipalities, and state and federal government. Under Alex’s leadership, the VCCDC lending division has provided over $7M in down payment assistance and over $105M in first mortgage loans to first-time homebuyers, many who thought having a home in of their own in Ventura County was near impossible.
