Alys Martinez is a general assignment multimedia journalist for KEYT NewsChannel 3.
Alys grew up in Long Beach and received a degree in Spanish at UCSB. She moved back to Long Beach and taught third-grade in a bilingual classroom and Adult Education
Although she loved teaching, Alys decided to pursue a career in journalism. She moved back to Santa Barbara at KEYT, then spent 4 years at KABC in Los Angeles, then returned to KEYT in 2012 as the weekend producer and reporting.
When Alys isn’t working, she spends time with her son Patrick, who is the love of her life. She also enjoys hiking and has scaled Mount Whitney and has competed in several marathons, triathlons and adventure races.
