Marie Taylor-Briggs retired in 2012 after 20 years of service from the City of Oxnard where she was responsible for the safety of all employees. As the only original Oxnard PAL, Inc. board member still serving, she is the organization’s longest standing supporter at more than 20 years. During this time, Marie has volunteered at countless PAL boxing tournaments where she has helped to host and serve event volunteers both day and night. In addition, Marie spent several years organizing and operating the very successful, and scary, Haunted House at Oxnard PAL, which helped to benefit PAL programs. Whether it be PAL’s Thanksgiving and Christmas events, being “Locked Up for Kids” as part of PAL’s Jail ’n’ Bail Fundraiser or helping with Host Town Oxnard, Marie has always been eager to serve her community and our PAL youth. Most recently, Marie volunteered at the Dallas Cowboys training camp, working and helping to recruit and supervise volunteers at a PAL-benefiting vendor booth for more than three weeks. In total, Marie volunteered over 170+ hours and her efforts helped to generate more than $60,000 for local youth. In every instance, Marie has given her time selflessly, leading by example and never once asking for a single thing in return… other than a call for the next event.
