Ben Escobar

Ben Escobar is a longtime resident of Oxnard and Ventura County. His father is from Jalisco, and his Mom hails from Chihuahua, Mexico. With eight brothers and sisters, he comes from a tight-knit family. Being so family and people oriented, Ben has always been a friend who gives support whenever needed. Ben is also very involved with church, serving on the care team at Mission Church, where he loves being able to serve the community through various outreach programs. Ben has been the owner/operator of Affordable Auto Glass for the past 14 years, with Ventura County Fleet being his number-one fleet account for the past 10 years. Ben chose to perform for The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (I’ve Got Soul) as this is a topic very close to his heart. A very dear and close friend and nephew who was like his own son, both took their own lives in 2018. Both were devastating losses. In participating in this event, Ben hopes to raise much-needed awareness about suicide prevention and the many resources available to those who are contemplating suicide or struggling with depression and/or grief.

Dancing for:

American Foundation for Suicide Prevention-I've Got Soul

AFSP raises awareness, funds scientific research and provides resources and aid to those affected by suicide. The organization funds research to improve interventions, train clinicians in suicide prevention, and advocate for policy that will save lives. Too many people at risk for suicide do not seek help, so AFSP works to find better ways to reach those who suffer, and encourages schools, workplaces, and communities to make mental health a priority. AFSP provides hope to those affected by suicide, bringing people who have been affected by suicide out of the darkness, and giving them opportunities to help others.
